The Simpsons Movie
Not one musical number in the whole thing. Awesome. Not that I'm against Simpsons characters breaking out into song (Who Needs the Kwik-E-Mart? CLASSIC.), but I was afraid this film would have been loaded with muscial stuff.
Like a lot of people, I judge recent episodes of The Simpsons pretty harshly when compared to the classic seasons of 3 thru 8. Luckily when Matt Groening brought in the "big guns" he brought in some of the best writers from the series' past --just no Conan. Whut the hell?
I've already seen this movie twice. I really needed to go back a second time to catch all the gags/jokes I missed the first time because people were laughing too loud. This movie is a lot of fun, especially when you see it with a bunch of other Simpsons fans.
The main story is about Homer causing a problem that forces the government to place a huge dome over Springfield. And a bunch of funny stuff happens. The first 20 minutes of the movie do what all the classic Simpsons episodes do best -- it starts in one direction, hits you with rapid fire jokes, changes direction and leads you into the main story.
The middle part of the movie is a little slow, but things pick up again after Homer's encounter with the boob-lady and her epiphitrees. But seriously, the "slow" middle part of this movie would be considered "normal" or "great" compared to a lot of the other movies that came out this summer. Y'see what I did there?
For Simpsons fans, this was a fun movie that will remind you why you loved the show in the first place--there are a lot of classic gags that will make you laugh out loud even though you see them coming from a mile away. I just wish there was more Albert Brooks in the movie...and why couldn't he have been Hank Scorpio?!!!

Bollywood Hijinx
Bollywood Disco Karate
I know you're asking yourself if Bollywood and Disco ever mixed. If you didn't think so, you'd be dead wrong.
In fact Disco survived in India until about 1985. There was even a song called Disco 82.
But Karate was really popular as well, with countless action movies featuring martial arts. And they were damn funny!
Bollywood said "Hey, let's put together Disco and Karate together! The People will go crazy!" And the evidence, I put before you here.
Oh, so you want more?

And In Today's "That Some Faucked Up Shit" News...
(pic is not of suspect dog but of an entirely different oddity)
Police Investigating Pit Bull Attack on Toddler
Lockport police are investigating an apparent attack by a pit bull on a small boy.The 2-year-old is recovering at Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo after police say he was attacked and sexually assaulted by his family’s pit bull.
Police said the toddler was in his home on Washburn Street about 2 p.m. when the pit bull attacked. According to police, the dog sodomized the boy.“The dog sexually attacked the kid and caused some pretty significant injuries,” said Lockport Police Detective Capt. Larry Eggert.
Eggert said the boy’s family members and neighbors had to beat the dog to get it off the boy.The dog has been impounded at the Niagara County SPCA as the investigation continues.
Eggert said a veterinarian will be brought in to take DNA samples from the dog.“(The vet will) compare DNA taken from the boy to kind of verify it happened,” Eggert said, later adding, “I have never, ever heard of an assault quite like that.”Niagara County SPCA Executive Director Al Chille agreed the case is an unusual one.“The majority of the calls we receive with regards to pit bulls are bite calls, not calls of this nature,” he said. “We get a considerably large number of those (bite calls) from all over the county.”The dog was a 2-year-old pit bull that had been with the family since it was a puppy, Eggert said.
Sunday’s incident was the first time the family had any problems with the dog being aggressive or biting, he said. The boy underwent surgery on Sunday night and may need more reconstructive surgery in the future, Eggert said.
Chille said pit bulls are notorious for being aggressive, though that may not be true of all pit bulls. In his 27 years working with the SPCA, he said he’s seen many dog breeds become feared in society — including spaniels, German shepherds and rottweilers.“Each one of the dogs had its day,” he said. The problem is not with the breed itself, Chille said, but rather the manner in which the dog is raised. A pit bull raised in a loving atmosphere “could be a fine dog,” he said.

Paprika
(possible spoilers ahead)
In the dreamworld, Paprika is an agent that helps people understand their dreams and nightmares. But when a dangerous technology threatens to merge reality with fantasy, it's up to Paprika and her real-life psychologist counter-part, Atsuko, to find and stop the masterminds behind the evil plan.
This film is directed by Satoshi Kon, and while Paprika isn't as trippy as his previous work, Paranoia Agent, there are still a lot of psychological overtones and fantastical elements. It plays like a mystery, with the main characters hunting down the true villain. Paprika/Atsuko is helped by her scientist colleagues and an over-stressed detective who's haunted by his own wasted potential.
The relationship between Paprika and Atsuko will remind some people (especially Son of Gigan) of the relationship between another j-pop culture duo: Cutie Honey and Natsuko. Paprika is the irresistably cute sprite and Atsuko is straight-laced. Atsuko is even referred to as "At-chan". The only difference between the two duos is that Paprika and Atsuko are the same person.
Anyway, this movie is awesome. I highly recommend it. The animation is beautiful and story is easy to follow -- it would have to be, considering all the strange imagery thrown at the viewer.

Summer of George (aka Guillermo): Kwik-E-Style!
The Summer of George (aka Guillermo) begins! Three months of decompressing and not doing shit. After a 3-day weekend consisting of a wedding, a bbq, b-ball and video games, I hit up one of twelve 7-Elevens across the country transformed into a Kwik-E-Mart to help promote The Simpsons Movie. Accompanied by the dude behind Twelve One Media, here are some pics from the Mountain View, CA Kwik-E-Mart.

I wonder could it be
...that Momo has drawn an upside down peach as her emblem?:
If she really did draw it like that then it shows she's happy with the peach as synonymous with bottom thing... which would be cool =)
