Dearly Departed

..wow, not exactly a good day for the music world is it?

from Shingo2 website:

"March 17, 2010

Today, I have very somber news for the international hip hop community, especially fans of the independent hip hop scene, and those who have followed my career.

It has been announced that Jun Seba, aka Nujabes, Japanese hip hop producer extraordinaire, passed away late February. Official statement from the label (in Japanese) here:
http://hydeout.net/hydeout/2010/03/_hydeoutproductions.html

We deeply regret the loss of a unique talent and a close friend. Through his soulful music, Nujabes has touched so many people around the world, even beyond his dreams. He was a mysterious character to most as he avoided the public limelight, rarely conducted interviews, so only a few got to know the man behind the signature production. Yet it continued to amaze me how young listeners of all backgrounds learned of his enigmatic name, and expressed support for his music. "

loved Nujabes production style, it was simple, basically layered samples over a drum loop, but he could make something "simple" sound freakin amazing!...listening to his tracks would remind me of the days when eriku and I would hang in his garage, dig through records trying to find that obscure sample and make beats on his SP1200...

In Loving Memory...

SCANDAL x Perfume

Recently Acquired

I needed to decorate my newly designated work desk in my home office(ie. the corner of my bedroom) so I picked up the FULLY POSEABLE figma K-ON! figures from Max Factory

I've never read the manga or watched the anime but these figures looked pretty kick ass, especially with the detail of their instruments, maybe thats why they're kinda pricey but I was able to find them on ebay at a pretty good price

Yui Hirawasa on lead guitar and vocals

Mio Akiyama on bass

Tsumugi Kotobuiki on keyboards

here's a close up of the keyboard..peep the details

and Ristu Tainaka on drums

here's another angle of her drums, they're made of mostly plastic(or maybe pvc) and diecast metal

very authentic looking foot pedal for the hi-hat

and a pic of the bass drum foot pedal

besides their instruments, each figure comes with several interchangeable hands, 2 additional faces, different pair of shoes and an extra bag, guitar cases for the 2 guitar players and a small school bag for the other 2 girls.......Max Factory recently released an Azusa Nakano figma figure(she plays guitar as well) so I'll have to get my hands on that one ASAP..once I do, it'll be like having my very own mini SCANDAL(plus a keyboardess) sitting on my desk! which by the way, is the main reason i got these figures

Hump Day Eye Candy Extravaganza

this is gravure idol Rui Kiriyama..like Ai Shinozaki, she is very VERY talented but seems to more willing to strike that suggested pose which can't be said about Ai...I ain't complaining though, Ai could be sitting in a chair playing a fauckin banjo and it'll still be hot...but I digress....Rui Kiriyama everyone!

no nudity involved but ALOT of cleavage so if you're not comfortable looking at her mounds at work, I suggest you skip the rest of this entry and take a peak when you're safely in your bedroom at home

I should also mention that Rui stared in what may be one of THE GREATEST JAPANESE MOVIES EVER, "Tennen Kajuu Sayaka"...disclaimer: I made that statement solely based on the trailer and synopsis below

"Buxom gravure idol Rui Kiriyama plays Sayaka Tsuzumi, an honor student who can't seem to get sexual thoughts out of her mind. In fact, she can't even look at an oversized hot dog without triggering one of the many fantasies that cause her to pass out in ecstasy. Her problem gets worse when she gets a chance to tutor a super-popular athlete named Yuki Ito (Naofumi Kaneko) for an upcoming math test. Along with 3 similarly-minded friends (Mika Kasahara, Yui Iwata, and Kanae Kibe), she forms a group called "The Virgin Club" to discuss their experiences and ambitions. Soon Sayaka's chest begins to pound in anticipation of being alone with Yuki in her home. Can she handle it?"

and there's a sequel! "Shin Tennen Kajuu Sayaka"

the Winter Olympics is something I typically don't watch, with the exception of luge and skeleton(that shit is crazy, how could you NOT watch?!) but this year, I totally got into it...maybe it was because NBC hyped it up just enough to make it look interesting or, maybe it was because we had a couple monitors at work stuck on Olympic coverage 24/7 or, maybe cuz I wanted to see my asian brethren, Apollo Ono(1/2 japanese) and JR Celski(1/2 filipino) kick ass in speedskating OR, maybe it was because the japanese curling team aka Team Aomori aka Curling Musume were just tiny and darn cute...but really, the one event that had me glued to the tv was women's figure skating...gay?..no, men's figure skating is gay so if you watch that shit, you're a certified gay...with women's figure skating you could oggle the likes of Miki Ando, Mao Asada and the very sexy Yu-na Kim

A-mei vs. Jie = So Cute Your Eyes Will Explode

Dueling versions of the sad song from A-mei, Yong Yuan De Hua Mian. Here's the original:

And here's little Jie's version. I think she edges this battle because she actually sings the words AND the guitar part:

Sorry for the low quality, but the bigger video screws up the column width. A better version can be found here.

Hump Day Ai-Candy Extravaganza

as mentioned in last weeks edition of the hump day post, the very well endowed Ai Shinozaki turns 18 this thursday(feb 25)...so all those naughty-thoughts-you-had-when-you-first-laid-eyes-upon- her-but-felt-guilty-to-mention-so-you-kept-them-to-yourself, can now be said out in the open!

for me, some of the first things that pop in my head were:

1. Wow, she has a cute face

2. WHOA!...look at those things

3. DAAAAAAAAAMN!! she's a big girl but that's all good with me

4. she looks like she could be Sayumi's chunky little sister or something

5. SHE'S HOW OLD?!!!

J-Music Clip of the Week

February is an epic month..not only is it the month of my birth but its also the month that these lovely idols came shooting out the vajayjay's of their respective mothers..HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADIES!!

we kick the month off with a lady who I instantly fell in love with when I saw her dawning a school girl outfit and a machine gun for an arm...the very HOT Minase Yashiro turned 25 on Feb 3rd

we continue with 3 of the girls from C-ute. Nakky turns the big 16(which is just 2yrs shy of 18 by the way) on Feb 5 followed by Maimi and Mai celebrating their birthdays on Feb 7 with Maimai turning 14 and Maimi turning 18(which is epic in itself)

Feb 8th see's the lovely and oh so beautiful Nozomi Sasaki celebrating her 22nd birthday

the very under-rated(in my opinion) Ayumi Shibata celebrates her 26th birthday on Feb 22

one of my all time favorites, Mayuko Iwasa, turns 23 on Feb 24th

followed by the still oh so hot Mikitty who turns 25 on Feb 26th

and also on the 26th, the day that many of us have been waiting FOREVER for..the INCREDIBLE Ai Shinozaki also turns the United States legal age of 18!!!! praise the lord

so there you have it February may be a short month but damn..its chopped full of idol birthday goodness....yeah I know I know, there are more idols who also celebrate their birthdays during the month of February so my apologies if I overlooked them...but to compensate, here are a couple more pics of Maimi and Saki...enjoy
